MAY 12 2007, LOS ALAMOS CHESS EVENT. Mesa Public Library, Los Alamos, NM. From 10:30AM to about 4:30PM in the library meeting rooms (library is open 10-5). The maximum number of people we can handle is about 20 in the tournament and about an equal number of games. We're suggesting that the tournament will be best suited to kids with ratings of about 800 plus or any adults. No trophies, no prizes, no entry fee. Donations before the tournament will be used to cover rating/tournament fee with any excess used to provide coffee and snacks. Tournament format to be decided on the day, probably swiss paired, maybe two sections depending on the rating range and attendance, but quads if that seems to make more sense.  Match play will probably be available if people want to play only one or two games. Tournament will be USCF rated and open only to current USCF members, in so far as the library rules permit it. No renewals on the day (although someone could use the library computers to join/renew).To register and for more information contact Jim Redman.
