The
Northern Schools Chess League League
Director: Andy Nowak - (505)988-1570
The Northern Schools Chess League (NSCL) was founded by Andy Nowak in
1977. The League is divided into the High School/Junior High Division and
the Elementary/Primary Division. The
competition is between five or six player teams from schools throughout
north central New Mexico. Team members from one school are paired against
those of another in order by strength and the sum of the results of all
the individual matches determine the winner of the team match.

In the High School/Junior High School Division the first two meets
determine the seeding for the third meet (the "Finals") where the top four
teams in each of the Large High School, Small High School, and Junior High
School brackets play each other for that bracket's championship. Remaining
teams will play in the consolation bracket (or brackets). In
the consolation bracket(s), a trophy will be awarded to the top finishing
team. In each of the other brackets, all four teams will receive
trophies.
